Clayton Tremlett is a Printmaker, Painter and Educator who lives and works from his Home Studio in Castlemaine, Victoria.

He currently teaches Art at Castlemaine Secondary College. Other than teaching, he has run a print workshop, printed limited editions for other artists and conducted relief printmaking workshops in Victoria and New South Wales.

His work has been shown in a number of Regional, Public and Artist Run galleries around Australia. Internationally he has held solo and group shows in England, Scotland and Austria. See the attached CV for details. Tremlett has been awarded several printmaking prizes for his Linocut prints, specifically those using the reduction process.

More recently he has produced a print installation for the Castlemaine Visual Arts Biennial, and is currently developing a wallpaper/installation for the IMPACT related exhibition “FOOTPRINTS”, which is an exhibition showcasing the work of 16 central Victorian printmakers.

Tremlett is represented in several public and private collections in Australia and Internationally. Locally he is represented by National Gallery of Australia collections.

Jeff Gardner a well established Australian Printmaker lives and works at Porcupine Flat near historic Maldon town in Victoria. He finds much of his inspiration from the beautiful land, sky and animals around him on his thirty acre property. Jeff has a diverse range of talents. Printmaker and painter along with an authour who writes and illustrates creative verse. When printing in his studio Jeff uses the traditional printing techniques.

Biting Issues

A printmaker's insight into our canine and feline relationships- with humour, depth, devotion, oh and BITE. This wonderful collection of prints is a result of Cascade Print Room in Maldon, Central Victoria, inviting some of Australia's best known printmakers to be inspired by the theme. All the artists were provided with a copper plate measuring 12 x 12 cm. The result... An amazing variety of techniques and styles that is funny, clever and carefully executed.

Biting Issues Exhibition includes works by Kareen Anchen, Nicky Carey, Phillip Davey, Peter Diamond, David Frazer, Jeff Gardner, Craig Gough, Jackie Hocking, Judy Holding, Martin King, Anita Laurence, Robert Maclaurin, Rhyll Plany, Lydia Poljak, Wendy Stavrianos and Deborah Williams

Kareen Anchen Artist's Statement

Biting Issues is a response to the 2011 Castlemaine Visual Arts Biennial theme-Pressing Issues. Jeff Gardner and I sent artists 12 x 12cm copper plates and requested each artist to respond to the idea of Biting Issues- exploring the idea of canine and feline friends. The idea was quite simply to encourage artists to create a plate and print an edition of 10 or more prints. We have been extremely pleased with the thought artists have given to this project and the high quality and wonderful variety of the art work speaks for itself.
